Abstract

This study explored how Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) supported education during the COVID-19 pandemic and how teachers view its role now and in the future. It focused on teachers’ perceptions of ICT in subject delivery, differentiation of instruction, collaboration, assessment and evaluation, and giving feedback, as well as its potential impact on teaching innovations and readiness for advanced technology. The study involved 175 randomly selected public elementary school teachers from the CALATRAVA-1 district, Negros Occidental, during the 2021–2022 school year. Data was collected through a validated survey that asked about teacher profiles, experiences with ICT during the pandemic, and expectations for its future use. Results showed that most participants were female, aged 35–39, held a bachelor’s degree, and had 5–9 years of teaching experience. Teachers strongly agreed that ICT was vital during the pandemic, particularly for providing feedback, conducting assessments, supporting learning, and fostering collaboration, while differentiation of instruction received slightly lower agreement. Most teacher characteristics did not significantly influence these perceptions, except for length of service and position in certain areas. Looking ahead, teachers saw ICT as having a very high impact on future education, especially in promoting teaching innovations, integrating advanced technologies, and preparing both teachers and learners for technological advancement. Overall, the study highlights ICT’s crucial role in keeping learning active during challenging times and its promise for transforming teaching and learning in the future.
